Queering The Path is an outdoor community group based in San Diego Ca. In the fall of 2019 we began to take root by hosting hikes and Kayaking events. In 2021 we bounced back as a collective and began to branch out to continue cultivating a space for Queer and Trans Black, Indigenous, People of Color & LGBTQ+ in the outdoors.
Our goal is to support our community by creating a welcoming environment for participants to learn outdoor skills and to create community here on Kumeyaay Land. We believe each individual has a unique background and experience that they bring to QTP. Through our collective lived experiences we encourage individual growth through gentleness and intentional instruction. We understand accessibility to the outdoors is often limited for folx with QTBIPOC identities through systemic oppression. To combat these limitations we offer scholarships to our community members who may need financial assistance to cover cost of an event, rental fees and potential course fees.
As we continue to grow as an organization, we hold true to our value that small spaces allow for the greatest connection between folks. You can expect to find 2 guides (meetup instructors) and 10 participants at most at a meetup. We believe when we have a small group our capacities as guides and participants allows for deeper connection. We do host larger Fundraiser outdoor and indoor events through out the year that are typically open to both QTBIPOC and LGBTQTIA.
Hope to see you at our next meetup!
